Woman in the Mirror – Making culture visible through art
Woman in the Mirror is a three-year project (2020-22) familiarizing the audience with fates of women living in our society.
The project aims to visualise the hidden female culture in Finland through art. The work is based on meetings and interviews of women of different ages and of various cultural backgrounds and it is intended for creative artistic collaboration.
The main characters from Afghanistan, Iraq, Morocco, Somalia, and Russia encounter an artist from Osiris Theatre, previously unbeknown to them. The main characters use their own voices and become visible through the art created by the artist. The encounters with the women create audio documentaries, sculptures, music, and performance art. These productions are brought to audiences in various venues as performance events.
